David and the Goliaths of Life

David and Goliah.jpg

Dear Reader,

I am here to tell you- if you are on a journey of letting go of habits and beliefs that developed because of trauma or hurt, I know the giant impossibility of the task before you. These structures you've built kept you safe, maybe even alive. You still feel as if it is still now the only thing that does. But darling, the giant you have been fighting for so long, is gone and defeated. You have been kept whole, hidden away to find healing and come to life again. No longer in need of sword and shield. Lay it down. Empty your hands.

For there is love and freedom chasing you, to pour into the crevices. Pumping your heart, again. Oh, the wild of broken walls. How courageous to trust yourself again. To reset the way you learned to interact with the world. Now knowing that you are more resilient and prepared for what is ahead. No longer served by expecting the worst, ready for imminent danger. You are a conqueror. No matter the marks on the flesh, but only that you made it here.

Let love in. You are enough. You made it to the other side. The giant under your feet, slain with only what you had in your hands. Keep letting go, surrender.

You have won, victory yours. Now rest.

For your light is bright.

And darkness is no more.

I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty. Philippians 4:12-13
